New 2013 Ford Mustang Taking Design Cues From The GT500

A few months ago it was reported that the 2013 Ford Mustang would not only be getting a small bump in horsepower but also a freshed up appearance thanks to a few GT500 styling cues. Since then things have been a little quiet on that front until a few spy shots of a 2013 Mustang test mule surfaced on Autoblog this morning. The new spy photos clearly show the 2013 Mustang's new GT500-esque styling.
It looks like Ford has opted to remove the two grill mounted fog lights and center mounted pony emblem that reside on the current Mustang GT's front end and replaced them with little more than a new logo placed toward the left of the grill. The changes give the car a look that very closely resembles the grill of 2012 Roush Mustangs. Further changes include a reshaped lower grill opening and a Boss 302 style lower chin spoiler. The headlights now feature projector beams and possibly a set of LED daytime running lights. Out back the Mustang GT gets a slight refresh with a new set of taillights, a reshaped bumper cover and a larger wing. We also know the 2013 Mustang will be getting a new 4.2-inch LCD screen mounted front and center between the gauges to display information about the vehicle. Other features the 2013 Mustang will receive is the SYNC system and HID headlamps. Also expect a new paint choice or two as Ford likes to keep things fresh. Ford is expected to release the first official photos of the 2013 Ford Mustang in just a few weeks and it the 2013 Mustang is set to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show Novemnber 18-27 at the Los Angeles convention center.
