Under The Hood Of the 2015 Mustang GT
Most of us are all too familiar with the exterior of the new 2015 Mustang GT and the overall concenus from Mustang enthusiasts appears to be that it is being well recieved. So what do we know about the new pony, well we love the new fastback look and the more aggressive front end but what is under the hood of the 2015 Mustang GT?
Well we do not know how StangTV did it but they appear to have got the first shot of what to expect - remember nothing is actual production yet, it is all still technically pre production/prototype but take a look at this shot of the new intake and air filter set up that appears to be smaller, but the sound tube is still there for that added cock pit engine sound. The basic layout of the engine compartment appears to be the same, the coolant overflow tank is different and actually looks out of place and like an after thought.
The engine covers are different as well, these may also be simply for the purpose of disguising things on the prototype car. We’re sure the 5.0 badge, and some other scripts will be added to decorate the engine and coil covers. Notice too the strut braces sweep back to the firewall and are painted black, rather than the side to side brace of the S197 cars. This could just be larger than normal structure for the compartments that contain the brake resrvoir and booster, as well as the battery, but they’d be over-sized if that’s their only purpose.
What we can’t see are changes to the fuel system if any, or any visible signs of changes to the intake manifold, including the new intake runner control system which is supposed to manage the incoming air charge better for low RPM response, improved idle, and better fuel economy. We have been told Ford are hoping for numbers in the 450 hp range and that it will for sure be around Boss 302 out put if not more - Here hoping!
