New Video Shows Mustang GT350 On The Racetrack
This new video released a few days ago shows the Mustang GT350 been put through its paces at VIR Virginia international speedway by a Ford vehicle dynamics engineers. It was obviously filmed a few months ago as the car is still covered in some scenes with major camo and in others it shows the new car on Wimbledon white with the classic Shelby blue stripes.
The overall consensus was that the last Shelby Mustang to hit the track was a competent contender but lacked driver involvement and was reliant on a lot of modification’s to make the old live axle suspension work on the track
Much of that should be changed with the upcoming GT350, which promises more than 500 hp and more than 400 lb-ft of torque from its flat-plane 5.2-liter V-8. The move to independent suspension in the new Mustang will be further aided by the addition of the Magne-Ride magneto-rheological dampers, and the GT350’s improved aerodynamics should prove to be effective on the track.
On-track performance counts, too, as the new GT350 is really more of a successor to the BOSS 302 and its Laguna Seca edition than to the bruiser that was the GT500.
Ford hasn’t announced when the 2016 Mustang Shelby GT350 will hit the streets, but it’s looking like it may be sooner than later.
With a Flat-plane crank and new magnetic dampers on all four corners, this 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is packing a lot of heat and has plenty of tricks to outperform the competition on the track and so far it looks like things are shaping up well.
