Is This The 50th Anniversary Mustang
Well - Is this the 50th anniversary Mustang? Several auto websites are reporting sighting of what is believed to be a lightly camouflaged special edition 50th anniversary Mustang out on a test drive just a few weeks before what most people are speculating will be the cars real debut at 2014 New York International Auto show April 18-27th at the Javits Center in NYC. The GT-spec ‘Stang features several retro styling cues to mark the occasion, including a unique grille with a horizontal chrome bar and corral around the Mustang logo, what appear to be rear quarter window louvers hidden under a black panel and forked-spoke wheels reminiscent of the ones seen on Edsel Ford II’s custom 1965 Mustang. The car is also seems to be sporting a set of big GT500 style Brembo brakes all around and a set of some type of rear quarter louvers. The car is also white, which Road & Track reports will be the only color offered on the 50th anniversary special edition, a nod to the original Mustang’s iconic Wimbledon White paint. The first Mustang was unveiled at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York on April 17th, a date that coincides perfectly with the second media preview day of this year’s New York Auto Show, and while one of the signature engines of the all-new 2015 Mustang is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, the 5.0-liter badge on this possible 50th Anniversary car seems perfectly appropriate. While the car seems to be pretty "badgeless" in these photos, we are sure to see some special "50th Anniversary" emblems will be secured by the time the car is officailly revealed in a couple of weeks.
