With the excitement still buzzing about the new Mustang S650, Ford has just released information regarding a new track ready turn key beast, the Mustang Dark Horse™ R.
The Dark Horse R (the R standing for "race") was set up by Ford Performance with racing in mind and will be competing in the IMSA sanctioned 2024 Mustang Challenge Series.

Drawing on years of racing expertise, Ford Performance specially crafted the Mustang® Dark Horse™ R race car to be aggressive and uncompromising. Allowing Mustang enthusiasts to simply buckle up and burn rubber in many club racing series.
Unbridled Power
The Mustang® Dark Horse™ R race car features a naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 engine, borrowed from the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse coupe. It’s combined with track-focused upgrades — including the following — for a more hard-core, pedal-to-the-metal performance:
- Borla® Racing Exhaust System
- RECARO® FIA racing seat
- Brembo™ Front and Rear Brake Package
- Ford Performance Parts R1 Flow-Formed Wheels
- Bespoke Michelin 19” slick race tires (required for Mustang Challenge®)
