Ford Mustang Is Going To Get An Ecoboost - Ford Confirms to Auto Week At Auto Show
The All New Designed Mustang is Coming in 2015 and as we have been suspecting for months Ford is preparing to introduce a four-cylinder engine to the Mustang, "A What?" we hear you say - Yuuurrp a four banger - but a very special one - an Eco-Boost ! The Ford Mustang is set to get a factory turbo on a four cylinder for the first time since 1984 when we saw the Mustang SVO released by Ford.
This information is not new as we said but it was all hearsay - until now we’ve only had unofficial reports but Ford product chief Derrick Kuzak confirmed this in an interview for Autoweek during the Detroit Auto Show yesterday, We think this is a great idea as it may bring back the SVO badge to the Mustang, some people may disagree, saying that the Mustang had had its fair share of poor engines over the years and that the new one has kept the standards high, but this Ecoboost technology is here to stay for sure in light of new CAFE rules, and high gas prices. EcoBoost technology includes turbocharging, variable valve timing and should have performance similar to that of 2011 V6 Mustang. The most likely candidate for the new Ford Mustang Ecoboost is the 2.0-liter that will be found under the hood of the 2012 Ford Focus ST, which means that the ‘Stang is set to receive 250 hp. Or how about a stroker 2.3L like the former SVO - This car will handle seriously well and should get good track time - what do you think?
