A Trip To The Fabulous Ford Forever Knotts Berry Farm Car Show
This years Fabulous Fords For Ever car show held at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park Southern California was off the hook with over 2000 cars in attendance and there were tens of thousands of spectators that showed up to see all the amazing Ford cars and trucks along with the usual slew of celebrities from the automotive industry associated with Ford. This year autograph sessions were held with Vaughn Gittin Jr. ( who was also working the Long beach grand prix ) Steve Saleen and Linda Vaughn whose great personality and friendliness is always a crowd pleaser.
There were alot of significant anniversaries to celebrate this year, including Ford Motor Company’s 110th birthday, plus 85 years of the all-important Ford Model A. The Torino turns 45 this year, and the Ford Special Vehicle Team celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2013. (Has it really been two decades since that first SVT F-150 Lighting pickup truck and SVT Mustang Cobra hit the showrooms? – Yes it has!)
Ever wonder how much space 1,100 Ford Mustangs takes up? Several acres, at least. And there were at least 154 Broncos on hand, too, not to mention nearly 100 Thunderbirds. Plus Mecurys and Lincolns and Fairlanes and Falcons and Effies – and Fords of every stripe, model and color.
Exhibitors from 13 states, plus Canada and Mexico, filled the huge Knott’s parking lots to capacity – in fact, more cars had wanted to enter but had to be turned away. And there were several highly popular semi-truck style displays also on hand, including those from Ford Racing, Shelby American, Roush, RTR, and Saleen. As always there was lots of Ford stuff to buy, and there were plenty of spectator goodie giveaways, too.
Ford and the FCCC folks promise us that next year’s event will be even further over the moon, as the company plans to unveil its new-for-2015 Mustang, and celebrate the Pony Car’s 50th anniversary in fine style. Given that, and the compelling size and scope of the Fabulous Fords Forever show, we suggest you plan your spring vacation for Southern California come April 2014
