Carroll Shelby Tribute And Car Show May 16th
The third annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show is aiming to host the largest Shelby GT350 gathering in history on Saturday, May 16th, including the new model from Ford Motor Company. In honor of the 50th anniversary of this historic car, Team Shelby is calling owners of all model years to display their Shelby steeds next to other Shelby and Ford powered high performance vehicles at the corporate headquarters 19021 S Figueroa St, Gardena, California 90248.
The event will include a panel of Shelby GT350 experts, as well as historic displays from the new Carroll Shelby Automotive Museum. A portion of Mr. Shelby's personal car collection will be opened to the public and Carroll Shelby's Store will debut new products for the event.
"The first Shelby GT350 made history when it was launched in 1965 and 50 years later, we hope to do so again with a salute to this iconic car," said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American and co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International. "With the help of Team Shelby, LA SAAC, Mustang Club of America and others, this should be one of the most exciting gatherings of Shelby cars this year."
The Wimbledon White and Guardsman Blue Shelby GT350 was unveiled at Riverside Raceway on January 27, 1965. Winning its first race weeks later, it quickly became a symbol of American performance, grit and ingenuity.
"The Ford Shelby GT350 is one of the most influential cars in American history," said Neil Cummings, co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International and CEO of Carroll Shelby Licensing. "The first Ford Mustang to wear a Shelby badge, it made high performance accessible at an affordable price. The hunger for a Mustang-based Shelby continues today with fans across the globe."
Shelby American will display its latest vehicles, including the soon to be released 627 HP 2015 Shelby GT at the event. Event attendees can look forward to meeting Shelby American executives, with potential appearances from the Ford Motor Company team.
"While we're planning the largest gathering of Shelby GT350s in history, we'll also exhibit Shelby Cobras and other significant Ford powered performance cars," said Jenni Shreeves, Executive Director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. "This event began as an annual tribute to Carroll and has evolved into a celebration of his lasting influence. We look forward to honoring Carroll's legacy with the many people who share his passion for American performance."
Team Shelby, Mustang Club of America and LASAAC will attend this official Team Shelby event. All Shelby and Ford performance car owners interested in displaying their cars can register at http://www.cscf.org for a $40 donation to the Foundation.
Note: This is going to be a busy day for the automotive press - May 16th is also the day that Chevrolet are having their new Camaro Six launch at Detroit’s Belle Isle
