Late-model Ford Mustangs are popular with enthusiasts thanks to great looks, real-world performance, and an amazing heritage. Ford provided the platform for excellent horsepower and handling, but owners often take their ponies far beyond stock. While everyone wants to dive under the hood and add horsepower, one modification every owner should consider is our Affordable 1979 – 2004 Ford Mustang Control Arm Upgrade.
Aftermarket control arms (also called trailing arms) are one of the many affordable parts that will make a real difference in the way your Mustang handles, brakes, and launches. Brothers Performance offers a variety of aftermarket control arms, including the BBK Performance Gripp arms that are affordable (priced under $300) for the upper and lower arms.
The stock rear arms are made from stamped steel and fitted with rubber bushings. As you can imagine, the stock arms are not designed for big horsepower or aggressive driving, so they can twist under hard loading. But the larger problem is the rubber bushings that deflect under hard loading and degrade over time. It’s not uncommon to see cracked and ruined bushings in high-mileage Mustangs.

Even worse, old, stock arms can make your car uncomfortable at speed or under heavy braking. When the rubber bushings deflect, the rear axle housing is no longer controlled and it can move out of alignment. This throws off your handling feel and can result in unpredictable performance.
BBK Performance Gripp arms solve the problem. They are formed from boxed steel that is far stronger than the stock stamped steel design and feature sturdy polyurethane bushings designed for street and track performance. Furthermore, the arms feature Zerk fittings so you can easily grease the bushings. This keeps the arms moving smoothly and also keeps them quiet. The arms are robotically welded and then powdercoated, so that great appearance will last a long, long time.
