2005 to 2010 Mustang BBK Power Plus Throttle Body
Late-Model Mustang owners have long been aware of the improvements offered from an aftermarket throttle body. Larger-than-stock throttle bodies give your engine an increase in airflow and BrothersPerformance.com stocks a complete selection of Mustang throttle bodies for virtually every application. As you know, BBK Performance was the very first aftermarket company to provide a Mustang-specific throttle body, way back in the Fox-body Mustang days. And one popular model is the 2005 to 2010 Mustang BBK Power Plus Throttle Body.
The 2005-2010 Mustang GT was equipped with the reliable 300 horsepower 4.6-liter modular Three-Valve engine that uses a front-mounted twin-bore throttle body. And while they make 300 horsepower in stock trim, a generous bump in power can be had with simple bolt-on parts including cold-air kits, headers and exhaust, camshafts, intake manifolds, flash tuners and of course, throttle bodies. Direct bolt-on BBK Power Plus throttle bodies for the 4.6 can be had from BBK in either twin-62 mm or twin-65 mm sizes.
Each BBK throttle body begins life as a high-quality 356-aluminum casting, which is very strong and provides excellent resistance to corrosion. This aluminum type is commonly used in aircraft parts, structural castings such as automatic transmission cases, and impellers, too.
Each casting is CNC-machined and comes with new electronic controlled injection-molded plastic gear assemblies to work smoothly with your drive-by-wire system. All this technology makes for a hassle-free installation that you can accomplish at home. By the way, installation is actually easy enough for a novice and requires only hand tools.
BBK not only sells a variety of throttle bodies for the Fox Mustang, but for all late-model 5.0L, Two-Valve, Three-Valve and Four-Valve Mustang engines—right up to the all-new 2015 models. And BBK Power Plus throttle bodies are designed and built with quality and performance in mind—right here in the U.S.A.
With no other modifications, we’ve seen 10-15 horsepower at the wheels—but the best performance will come after you installed a new tune. We always recommend a flash tuner, such as the SCT X4 and a cold-air kit to compliment a new throttle body. This is the best way you’ll maximize airflow and the air/fuel ratio for efficiency, power and drivability.
