With the reveal of the 2015 Ford Mustang back on December 5th and the Performance Racing Industry Show last week, a lot of questions have been raised about the 2015 Cobra Jet drag race program and it looks like Ford will be offering a solid rear axle Mustang. The 2015 Cobra Jet Mustang rumors are all about a Ford Racing representative at the Performance Racing Industry Show allegedly told Gas2 (via Mustangs Daily) that the company is planning to offer a 2015 Mustang "body in white" with a separate part number in the Ford racing catalog for a nine-inch solid rear axle. This multipurpose body in white can be purchased to build a Cobra Jet style drag race car or even a SCCA or NASA American Iron road race car. The body in white program has been successful for Ford and is intended to attract serious racers to the platform. Chevrolet has offered something similar with the Camaro for several years, allowing racers to prepare and set up their vehicle to their own specifications. At least for the Mustang enthusiasts this program if correct would provide Mustang racers a way to go racing without ripping apart a production car off the dealer lot
We would anticipate a live axle 2015 Mustang package to debut at next year's 2014 Performance Racing Industry Show in Indianapolis.
